Where I'm From

I’m from Lake Erie
From running in the sand
And from seagulls stealing my French fries
From trying to jump over waves
And getting salt water in my mouth
I am from Browns Country
From seeing orange and brown everywhere I go
I’m from sitting at seats at the Jake
From rooting for the home team
To stretching at the 7th inning stretch
I’m from being daddy’s little girl
From my dad’s big  brown eyes
To his big feet and his brown hair
I’m from being mom’s helper
From my mom’s loving
And caring spirit
To her sense of independence
I am from blasting country music
And singing  to the radio
And to Jason Aldean
From driving with the top down
And feeling the wind in my hair
I’m from climbing trees
With the kids down the street
From scraping my knees until they bruised
And feeling like I’m on top of the world
I’m from the sunshine from summertime
From hearing crickets and itchy bug bites
I’m from looking for lighting bugs
From only seeing the lights of the bugs
I am from gloves and bats
From dirt blowing everywhere
And hitting softballs to running the bases
I’m from taking pictures
From remembering every moment
I’m from crying to smiling
From using all the tissues and falling off my seat
I’m from living, laughing and loving
From living in the moment

  1. Nice job! I love some of the details, like the salt water in the mouth and the dirt blowing everywhere. I'd love to maybe see one more stanza before your ending...otherwise, nice!
